Programme Highlights

  • The M.Tech. (VLSI) program is specially designed for professionals working in the area of VLSI and spans 6 semesters. (2 years course work and 1 year for dissertation).
  • Attend live lectures from anywhere via an online technology-enabled platform. These live lectures are conducted by IIT faculty mostly on weekends or after business hours, making it convenient for working professionals to pursue the program alongside their jobs
  • Participants can earn a regular M.Tech degree without having to quit their jobs. The program is structured to accommodate the schedules of working professionals, allowing them to advance their education and career simultaneously.
  • Participants will have access to advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD) tools, providing hands-on experience with industry-standard software used in VLSI design and research.
  • Upon successful completion of the MTech in VLSI program, students of this course will be granted the same alumni status as any other residential students pursuing their degree in IIT Roorkee.
  • The program features an industry-friendly Intellectual Property (IP) Policy, designed to facilitate collaboration and innovation between academic and industry partners. This policy ensures that both the participants and their employers can benefit from the research and developments made during the course, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Each semester includes a contact program where participants can interact directly with faculty and teaching assistants (TAs). This provides an opportunity to clarify doubts, engage in in-depth discussions, and receive personalized guidance on course material.

Course Curriculum

Participants need to take at least 1 course (min 4 credit) to continue registration. The coursework requirement for the programme would consist of a set of core courses and electives. Core courses are compulsory for all participants, while electives can be chosen based on individual learning preferences.

Examination Mode:

o Mid-term exam: In every semester, mid-term exams are scheduled on weekends at IIT Roorkee or Greater Noida Extension Center IIT Roorkee.
o End-Term exam: Exams are scheduled on weekends at three centers i.e. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Greater Noida Extension Center IIT Roorkee.

Eligibilty Criteria

  • B.Tech (ECE/EE/EI) or equivalent, M.Sc (Physics/Electronics), with at least 60 % marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level and minimum two years of relevant experience in industry and/or research labs

Fee Structure

  • Application fees (one time): Rs. 1000
  • Admission fees (one time): Rs. 50, 000/
  • Course Fee: Rs. 6 Lakhs

Fellowship:

We have announced the following awards for each graduating batch of MTech VLSI students.

  • The student with the highest CGPA will receive a memento, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The student must have a CPGA of 9 or above to qualify for this award.
  • A panel of experts will declare the “Best M.Tech Thesis Award” among the students of MTech VLSI program. The student will receive a memento, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
